They call Los Angeles the "City of Angels." I haven't found it to be that, exactly. On Monday morning I moved to Los Angeles, about 60 miles west of Loma Linda. For the next month I'll be living and working at the White Memorial Medical Center in East L.A., not far from downtown for my inpatient pediatric rotation. Posts may be sparse in the coming month unless some unforeseen inspiration seizes me.

Hi Matt,
I am so excited for you! Enjoy your peds rotation. Don't let the parents drive you too crazy! Just remember that everything takes three times longer in peds...and it's okay. This really is the best specialty;)

I want to encourage you all
the way through this inpatient pediatric rotation.
Gods' best be with you
Just trying to stay healthy in the midst of all the RSV, metapneumovirus, pertussis and influenza A&B. =)
thanks Jacob!
C'mon Matt, being sick is what second year is all about...
You know you're not really a candidate for RSV or metapneumovirus, and pertussis and influenza you should be vaccinated against to be in clinicals. Just wash your hands already. Before you know it, you will be impervious to all infection!

The best to you always Matt. Hope LA treats you well and enjoy this rotation, it IS one of the funnest!
God's Peace and Blessings,

Keep posting stuff like this i really like it
I was born in L.A. and lived in and around for 40 years. Bless you as you serve there.
FWIW "City of Angels" is a contraction of the longer, founding name: El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles" - "The Village of Our Lady, Queen of Angels." (Sorry I can't figure out how to use tilde [~] in "Senora" - pr. senyora).
Oh, and be sure to get in for a meal at the Pantry Cafe, 9th & Figueroa (open 24/7). My dad was one of the old school waiters there - look up on the wall for some of the group pics and you will see Al Fountain. As I kid, they let me play in that cashier booth (still there). Great cross-sections of L.A. eat there all the time.
